Inside-Outside Studio

This project was based around a life in the suburbs which was more the circumstance of necessity than a personal choice. It sought to increase the sense of distance and removal from the realm of the house by extending the sequence of movement and layering the depth of enclosure.

Three work spaces accommodate the needs of a process oriented painter: the roofs cape where photosensitive chemicals react to sunlight, the rough work area with its storage of tools, equipment, and canvas, and the finish painting studio which floats between the two.
